Ravi Balchan

Ravi Balchan is a third-year law student at the University of Manitoba. Prior to law school, Ravi completed a B. Comm. (Hons.) degree at the Asper School of Business. Ravi has a passion for business and the arts, and takes pride in helping his clients succeed. Ravi is excited to work alongside L. Kerry Vickar Business Law Clinic clients to help them realize their goals.
Zeynep Fattah
J.D. Candidate 2025
Zeynep is a third-year law student at the University of Manitoba where she has been recognized academically with a Pitblado Scholarship and the Lieutenant M.M. Soronow Scholarship for highest standing in first-year law. Prior to law school, Zeynep worked at a law firm as a legal assistant specializing in corporate and commercial transactions. Zeynep is looking forward to continuing to assist clients in achieving their business goals.
Skylar Ferbers
J.D. Candidate 2025
Skylar is a third-year law student at the University of Manitoba. She is the proud recipient of a Pitblado Scholarship for her academic achievement at law school in both her first and second year. Prior to law school, she completed a Bachelor of Commerce from the Asper School of Business with a major in Accounting. Skylar is excited to help L. Kerry Vickar Business Law Clinic clients achieve their goals.
Connor Giesbrecht
J.D. Candidate 2025
Connor is a third-year law student at the University of Manitoba. His academic performance has earned him a Pitblado Scholarship and the MLT Aikins Honourable Marshall Rothstein Prize for highest standing in Constitutional Law. In his free time, Connor enjoys jogging, watching hockey, and listening to country music. Connor is looking forward to assisting L. Kerry Vickar Business Law Clinic clients as they pursue their goals. Connor will be articling at Ammeter Law Group in 2025-2026.
Lisa Haydey
J.D. Candidate 2025
Lisa Haydey is a third-year law student at the University of Manitoba. She is passionate about supporting and advocating for entrepreneurs and our local business community. Her approach is informed by her love of research, problem solving, and her prior educational experience, including a Bachelor of Arts in Honours Psychology and a Masters in Physiotherapy.
Moira Kennedy
J.D. Candidate 2025
Moira is a third-year law student at the University of Manitoba, where she has been recognized for her excellence as a top negotiator in second year law and the winner of the Art Braid Business Case Competition. Prior to law school, Moira pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Indigenous Studies. Her passion for helping businesses and entrepreneurs comes from working in her grandparents small business as a young adult. Moira worked in a leadership role with Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries and also served on their Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. She is currently the chair of the board of directors at the North Point Douglas Women’s Centre and enjoys assisting non-profits with their governance needs.
Alli Knox
J.D. Candidate 2025
Alli is a third-year law student at the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Commerce from the Asper School of Business. Prior to starting law, Alli worked at a technology start-up out of Manitoba. She looks forward to meeting more Manitoba-based entrepreneurs and artists through the L. Kerry Vickar Business Law Clinic.
Carly Lafond
J.D. Candidate 2025
Carly is a third-year law student at the University of Manitoba. Having grown up in a small town, Carly is passionate about supporting small businesses and ensuring their success. With a desire to pursue business law, Carly is grateful to have the opportunity to gain exposure in that area while also supporting and advocating for local business owners and entrepreneurs.
Nicholas Ly
J.D. Candidate 2025
Nicholas is a third-year law student at the University of Manitoba. Throughout his time in law school, Nicholas has received the Dean’s Recognition Award for placing in the top 10% of his class and other academic awards for highest standing in multiple classes. In his free time, Nicholas competes in powerlifting and enjoys spending time with friends. Nicholas is excited to work with clients of the L. Kerry Vickar Clinic and help them achieve their goals.
Lauren Martin
J.D. Candidate 2025
Lauren is a third-year law student at the University of Manitoba. Before attending law school, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology. Lauren gained valuable legal experience as a summer student at MLT Aikins in Calgary, where she will return for her articling in 2025. Driven by a passion for advocacy, she is committed to helping business owners and entrepreneurs navigate their unique legal needs.
Mathew O'Connor
J.D. Candidate 2025
Mathew earned a BA in Honours Speech Communication with minors in Legal Studies and Psychology. Before attending law school, he was a Tier 2 Tax Support Specialist at Intuit ProFile, where he co-led a team of up to 70 staff members and earned 'Employee of the Year' in 2021. Now at Robson Hall, Mathew has published a blog with Robson Crim and volunteered with Pro Bono Students Canada, aiding artists in intellectual property protection. He also secured a 1L role at EY Law, returned for his 2L summer, and will article post-graduation to work in Indirect Tax. In his final year at Robson, he is working with the L. Kerry Vickar Business Law Clinic, completing a concentration in 'Private Enterprise & the Law,' and is a part of the Manitoba Law Journal's Scholarly Publications team.
Emily Palmer
J.D. Candidate 2025
Emily is a third-year law student at the University of Manitoba, Faculty of Law. Before starting law school, Emily completed her Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Manitoba, and in 2022, she completed her Master of Journalism degree at The University of British Columbia. Throughout her studies, Emily has enjoyed spending time outdoors, engaging in fitness, and educating young people about mental health and wellness. Emily looks forward to promoting the business community and the creative minds in Manitoba during her time at the L. Kerry Vickar Business Law Clinic.
Pavle Rogic

Pavle is a third-year law student at the University of Manitoba. Prior to law school, he completed a biology degree at the University of British Columbia. In his free time, he enjoys playing sports and video games, being outdoors, and spending time with his friends and family. Pavle is excited to help L. Kerry Vickar Business Law Clinic clients navigate legal issues and reach their entrepreneurial goals.

Daniel Is a third-year law student at the University of Manitoba. He has a keen interest in all matters related to business and tax law. He is always excited to talk with entrepreneurs and artists. Carter Ross
J.D. Candidate 2025
Carter is a third-year law student at the University of Manitoba. He completed a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) and is dedicated to volunteering where he can. During his time at law school, Carter has been actively involved with the Business Law Group, having acted as both the Communications & Marketing Director and the Treasurer. In his free time, Carter enjoys playing many different sports and spending time with family and friends.
Corbin Stewart

Corbin is a third-year law student at the University of Manitoba. Prior to attending Robson Hall, he completed a Bachelor of Communications (Major in Journalism) at MacEwan University in Edmonton, Alberta. With his background in film criticism, Corbin is excited to provide legal assistance to artists, non-profits, and entrepreneurs to help his clients succeed.
Kassandra Taverner
J.D. Candidate 2025
Kassandra is a third-year law student at the University of Manitoba, with a Bachelor of Science in Cell, Molecular, and Developmental Biology. Kassandra is also an artist and has developed a keen eye for detail and a creative approach to problem-solving. WIth her scientific background, Kassandra is skilled at analyzing data and synthesizing information. She is excited to use her unique perspective and skill set to help the Business Law Clinic's clients succeed.
Jeremy Tran

Jeremy is a third-year law student at the University of Manitoba. Prior to law school, Jeremy obtained a Bachelor of General Science with a focus in Biology and Microbiology. Jeremy gained valuable experience in corporate/commercial law as a summer law student at Pitblado Law in 2024 and will be returning to article at the firm in 2025.

Jordan is a third-year law student at the University of Manitoba. Prior to attending law school, he completed a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree with a double major in Finance and Marketing at the Asper School of Business. Paul is a second-year law student at the University of Manitoba. Prior to law school, Paul obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Criminology at the University of Manitoba. All law students working at the Business Law Clinic are members of The Law Society of Manitoba as students-at-law and work under the supervision of an experienced lawyer.
All law students at the Faculty of Law are members of the Manitoba Law Students Association, the Manitoba Bar Association and The Canadian Bar Association.
All students participating in the Business Law Clinic are also supported business law mentors from the legal profession, and well as by faculty, staff and have access to practice tools and resources of E. K. Williams Law Library, including LexisNexis Quicklaw, Practice Advisor, Westlaw, various other online tools and extensive resources of UM Libraries, and complimentary online access, through the Canadian Corporate Counsel Association Mondaq Library, to Mondaq Knowledge Centres and Mondaq Comparative Guides.
Law students in the Clinic use the world’s leading cloud-based legal practice management software to manage files from start to finish courtesy of Clio’s Academic Access Program which helps students learn the practice of law using advanced legal technology to be efficient and effective as well as work remotely from anywhere.
